Construction comparison
Memory foam vs solid foam: what the words actually mean
Memory foam conforms to the body and is usually layered or contoured. Solid foam is one dense piece. Both are real constructions — and neither is automatically "better," because the brands do not publish density or firmness.
Memory foam (layered)
Memory-foam top over a support-foam base. Discloses inner sleep area.
Casper Dog Bed →Solid foam (single piece)
One piece of firm foam under a ripstop cover. Density not disclosed.
K9 Ballistics Rectangle →The honest version
Memory foam's mechanism is pressure relief — the material softens with body heat and conforms. Solid foam's mechanism is a stable, uniform surface. These are different ways to support a dog, and the right one depends on the dog.
What would let us say which lasts longer or supports better: foam density (lbs per cubic foot), firmness (ILD/IFD), and rebound data. None of the brands in this group publish them, so we compare structure and say where the evidence stops.
