Does memory foam make a difference in a dog bed?
Memory foam's mechanism — conforming to the body — is real. Whether a specific dog bed delivers strong pressure relief is a different question, and it is one the published data cannot answer.
The mechanism
Memory foam softens with body heat and conforms to the sleeper's shape. That is a real material property, and it is the reason human-mattress brands use it for pressure relief. A dog bed that puts a memory-foam layer over a firmer support base is borrowing that same idea: conforming on top, support underneath.
What the data would need to show
To claim one memory-foam bed relieves pressure better than another, you would need density and firmness (ILD/IFD) numbers, and ideally pressure-mapping data. No brand in this group publishes any of it. So the honest statement is about construction: some beds have a memory-foam layer, others do not.
